LABORATORY APPARATUS
Laboratory apparatus is the most common equipment that you need while performing any practical or hands-on activities in a laboratory.
The laboratory equipment totally depends on the type of laboratory you are in and the practical work you are going to perform.
For example, if you are doing an experiment in a chemistry laboratory, the apparatus you need to use are the following:
Test tube holders: For holding test tubes and beakers that may or may not be touched.
Test tubes: It is used for carrying small samples or for performing small-scale reactions.
Test tube stands: It is a stand that is use for keeping test tubes upright.
Droppers: It is used for adding a very minute or small amount of liquid, drop by drop in other equipment.
Burette: It is glass equipment that is used for adding a precise volume of a liquid.
Pipette: It is used to divide the small and precise amount of liquid samples.
Bunsen burners: It is a hot plate that is heated by a lamp or a source of heat.
Beakers: It is wide-mouthed glass equipment that is used to contain reactions or to hold liquid samples.
Watch glasses: It is a cover for beakers and is sometimes used as an evaporating dish to evaporate different compounds.
Funnels: It is an apparatus that is used for filtering.
Graduated cylinders: A laboratory glass which is used to measure an amount of liquid
Volumetric flasks: It used to make precise dilutions
Wash bottles: Wash bottles are used for dispensing small quantities of distilled water.
Wire gauges: Used to support a container while it is heating on burner.
Balances: Used to measure the mass of a reagent or product
Spectrophotometers: It is used to measure the light absorbance and transmittance of a liquid sample.
Fume hoods: Used to ventilate harmful gases or vapors
Desiccators: It is used to preserve a substance in a moisture-free environment or dry material.
